Position Summary
The Director of Religious Formation is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and coordination of faith formation programs for children and youth in grades 1–12.
This position collaborates closely with the pastor, pastoral administrator, staff, catechists, parents, and volunteers to foster lifelong discipleship and active participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership

Provide leadership and oversight for parish faith formation programs for grades 1–12.

Implement catechetical curriculum consistent with Church teaching and diocesan guidelines.

Recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers.

Evaluate and improve catechetical programming.
Program and Sacramental Coordination

Coordinate the Wednesday faith formation program for public school students (grades 1–12).

Coordinate Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9:45 am Sunday Mass.

Coordinate sacramental preparation for:
First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation
Organize parent meetings, retreats, and sacramental celebrations.

Develop and implement a parish youth ministry program, as needed.
Administration

Manage program registration, scheduling, and communication with families.

Maintain student records and sacramental documentation.

Coordinate curriculum materials and program resources.
Parish Collaboration

Encourage youth participation in parish liturgy, service, and parish life.

Work collaboratively with parish staff and ministries.

Support parents as the primary educators of their children in the faith.
Qualifications
Required
-
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.

Knowledge of Catholic theology and catechetical methodology.

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Ability to recruit and support volunteer catechists.

Experience working with children or youth in educational or ministry settings.
Preferred
-
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or related field.

Experience in parish faith formation or youth ministry.
-
Catechetical certification or willingness to pursue diocesan certification.
Working Conditions
