Front Desk Clinical Receptionist facilitates the efficient operation of the department and acts as initial point of contact for patients/clients by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This position supports Child Watch and is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of each child and maintaining a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants.

Front Desk Clinical Receptionist facilitates the efficient operation of the department and acts as initial point of contact for patients/clients by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This position supports Child Watch and is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of each child and maintaining a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Coordinates and schedules appointments for multiple departments including medical, mental health, and SUDP counselors.
- Assists and informs clients regarding the established treatment process, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring full compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
- Processes new walk ins on a timely basis, by requesting completed applications and medical information, verifying, and clarifying information, and explaining admissions criteria.
- Helps coordinate schedule for walk in appointments by working directly with the SUDPs. Mental health, and medical scheduling.
- Utilizes Electronic Health Record (EHR) to place information updates and appointment reminders into the client kiosk. Provides training and assistance to clients in the use and functionality of the kiosk program.
- Maintains inventory, orders, and distributes office supplies and/or equipment for the front desk.
- Guides children through play activities and remains active participant with the children through all activities (i.e., reading, drawing, coloring).
- Practices patience and positive attitude with childhood behavior and corrects inappropriate behavior with accordance with established practices and guidelines.
- Maintains child watch area in an orderly manner ensuring that daily sanitizing/cleaning and basic health and safety codes are always met.
- Stays aware and ready to implement all safety precautions and emergency procedures when necessary.
- Covers screening station for the Security department when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Nursing Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
- Ability to work in a cross-culture environment, understands the social and cultural context of the patients at the didgwalic Wellness Center. Understands the role of trauma, historical, community, family, and personal experience in wellness and recovery.
- Understands and adheres to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (HIPAA and 42 CFR part 2).
- Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related programs.
- Knowledge of basic care principals of infants, toddlers, and pre-school children including administering to injuries and illnesses common to young children.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One to three years of experience working in an administrative role in medical environment (EHR) desired.
- One year of experience with children preferred.
- Strong time management skills and multitasking ability required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged period of standing and frequent bending and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
