This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys mentoring clinicians, and is motivated by continuous improvement and excellent client outcomes.

The Outpatient Clinical Director works closely with the Program Director, Residential Clinical Director, Admissions, Nursing, Medical, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless coordination of care, strong program performance, and continuity across levels of service.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Leadership

The Outpatient Clinical Director provides direct supervision, guidance, and support to outpatient therapists and clinical staff. This role ensures that individual, group, and family therapy services are clinically sound, consistent, effective, and aligned with evidence-based practices. The Director also oversees treatment planning, discharge planning, clinical documentation, and level-of-care decision-making to support high-quality client care.

Program and Curriculum Development

This position leads the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of outpatient programming and curriculum. The Outpatient Clinical Director ensures that programming is clinically appropriate, engaging, evidence-based, and aligned with applicable standards, including ASAM criteria. This includes monitoring group facilitation, evaluating therapist effectiveness, and providing coaching and feedback to support strong clinical delivery.

Compliance and Quality Improvement

The Outpatient Clinical Director plays a key role in maintaining clinical compliance with applicable regulatory and accrediting standards, including DHCS, CARF, and Joint Commission requirements. This role conducts chart audits, clinical reviews, and documentation quality checks to support audit readiness and ongoing improvement. The Director also helps identify trends, address deficiencies, and implement training or corrective action when needed.

Team Development and Supervision

This role provides ongoing clinical supervision, mentorship, coaching, and professional development to therapists and clinical staff. The Outpatient Clinical Director supports employee performance, conducts evaluations, assists with corrective action when needed in partnership with HR, and contributes to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of clinical team members. A major focus of this position is fostering a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

The Outpatient Clinical Director partners closely with the Program Director and Residential Clinical Director to align clinical services with operational workflows and overall program goals. This role also collaborates with Admissions, Nursing, Medical, and other departments to support coordinated, integrated care. The Director participates in treatment team meetings, case consultations, utilization reviews, step-down planning, and discharge coordination to support continuity of care.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a clinically strong, organized, and collaborative leader who can balance quality care, compliance, staff development, and program growth. • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, coach, and develop clinical teams
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and disciplines
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems and clinical documentation practices
  • Successful completion of background check, drug test, physical, and TB screening
