Project Foreman
Position Summary
The Foreman serves as a key leader in the field, responsible for supervising crews, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting project delivery. Acting as a Competent Person, the Foreman must maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity while fostering a positive work environment. This role is essential for bridging field operations with project management and developing future leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Field Supervision & Training
· Direct daily work activities and crew assignments to meet project schedules and quality standards.
· Provide hands-on training and mentorship to crew members, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
· Monitor productivity and adjust work plans to optimize efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
· Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment, tools, and materials.
Safety & Competent Person Duties
· Act as the designated Competent Person for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
· Conduct daily safety meetings and site inspections, addressing hazards and implementing corrective actions.
· Maintain accurate safety documentation, including job hazard analyses (JHAs) and incident reports.
· Model safe work practices and hold team members accountable for following established safety protocols.
Project Support
· Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with scheduling, resource planning, and site coordination.
· Ensure materials and equipment are available when needed, minimizing downtime.
· Communicate project progress, issues, and solutions to management in a timely and professional manner.
· Support quality control efforts by inspecting completed work and addressing deficiencies promptly.
Leadership Development
· Mentor and coach team members to enhance skills, confidence, and readiness for future leadership roles.
· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect.
· Recognize and reward strong performance, while providing constructive feedback for improvement.
· Participate in leadership training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
· Minimum 3–5 years of construction experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
· OSHA Competent Person certification (or ability to obtain within designated timeframe).
· Strong knowledge of construction practices, tools, and equipment.
· Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate teams.
· Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
