What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counter Sales and Order Processing Associate (Trailer Components) position at Dexter Group?

Join Dexter’s Carlisle, PA distribution team supporting the commercial trailer, RV, heavy-duty, marine, agriculture, and manufactured housing markets. We manufacture and supply axles, suspension, brakes, doors, venting products, trailer parts, accessories, and towing components—and we’re looking for a customer-centric pro at the counter and on the phones.
What you’ll do
- Answer questions in person and by phone—quickly, clearly, and courteously
- Look up pricing and availability; keep system data current and accurate
- Enter customer orders with precision and suggest add-on parts when appropriate
- Provide basic technical guidance to help customers select the right products
- Call truck run customers to gather orders and ensure on-time placement
- Make same-day follow-ups on backorders and communicate delivery dates
- Support sales initiatives targeting new prospects and re-engaging lapsed/declining accounts
- Investigate service complaints and collaborate with management on resolutions
- Research warranty/return requests and complete all required forms and documentation
- Track shipments and keep customers informed
- Jump in on other duties as assigned
What makes you a great fit
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of customer service experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, computer, and phone skills
- Service-first mindset with the curiosity to learn product details and recommend solutions
- Sales background and parts counter experience are a plus
