What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landscape Construction Project Manager position at Design Works?
Landscape Construction Project Manager
About the Role:
As our Field Project Manager, you’ll be in the field daily during the landscape season — making sure crews have what they need, work is completed to our high standards, and customers stay informed and happy. You’ll lead smaller projects from start to finish, solve problems on-site, help train crew members, and keep daily details organized so jobs stay on track and on budget.
In the winter, you’ll help manage and perform snow operations, including plowing, de-icing, and crew coordination during snow events — keeping properties safe and clients satisfied while ensuring you maintain steady hours through the off-season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet crews each morning to confirm tools, materials, and plans are in place.
- Start projects on-site: set up crews, review tasks, clarify expectations.
- Perform daily site checks for quality, safety, and progress.
- Monitor crew performance, give feedback, and support training on best practices.
- Track materials used and flag any extras or scope changes to the Lead PM.
- Keep clear daily notes, photos, and records for accurate billing.
- Communicate daily with the office and Lead PM to share updates.
- Be the main point of contact for assigned customers: handle walkthroughs, updates, and final closeouts.
- Provide estimates for small add-on work or time-and-materials as needed.
- Winter: Operate plow trucks and snow equipment, coordinate crews during snow storms, perform site checks and quality control for snow removal and de-icing, and respond to emergency winter weather calls as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5 years of experience in landscape construction, hardscape, or site work preferred.
- Prior leadership or foreman experience strongly preferred.
- Snow plowing or snow operations experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of tools, equipment, and job site safety.
- Good communicator — comfortable talking with customers and leading crews.
- Organized, dependable, and able to track daily details accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible hours during snow storms, including nights and early mornings.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly pay or salary based on experience
- Winter hours through snow services
- Company truck or mileage reimbursement
- Health and dental insurance options
- Paid time off and holidays
- Ongoing training and opportunities to grow
- A positive, supportive team environment where your ideas matter
