Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during weekend shifts to ensure efficient delivery of patient care aligned with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
- Provide clinical guidance on complex cases involving dementia care, behavioral health issues, or acute pain management; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and case managers.
- Monitor infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, catheter care, ventilator management, and other specialized procedures to promote resident safety.
- Facilitate discharge planning, family communication, and coordination with external providers for services such as dialysis or home care when necessary.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives by conducting patient assessments, reviewing medical documentation for accuracy, and ensuring adherence to NCQA standards and other regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state registration.
- Proven supervisory experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment; prior nurse management experience is highly preferred.
- Extensive clinical knowledge including geriatrics, dementia care, ICU experience, hospital medicine, or Level I/II trauma center background.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; proficiency in medical documentation and ICD coding (ICD-9/10).
- Strong understanding of patient assessment techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration including injections and IV infusions, and infection control practices.
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts while effectively managing team dynamics and fostering a positive work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support residents’ families.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and NCQA standards; experience with utilization review or management is advantageous. Pay: $32.55 - $39.20 per hour
