Parts Inspector – Quality Assurance (Temp-to-Hire)
Location: Davenport, IA
Schedule: Monday – Friday (No Weekends!)
Available Shifts:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (2 Immediate Openings)
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (1 Immediate Opening)

Position Overview
As a Parts Inspector, you are the final line of defense ensuring our high-precision cutting tools won't fail when a customer puts them to work. You will be responsible for verifying that all raw materials, in-process parts, and finished products meet strict engineering and dimensional specifications. This role requires working with very small tolerances and numbers, requiring an exceptional eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Precision Measurement: Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to strict engineering prints using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, height gages, and rulers.
- Quality Testing: Inspect, test, and sample incoming materials and finished company products (like drill bits and machining parts) for microscopic defects, chips, or irregularities.
- Defect Management: Identify, discard, or reject products, materials, and equipment that do not meet company specifications; recommend items for rework or scrap.
- Documentation: Log, track, and document inspection data to provide clear feedback to production cells and engineering teams regarding product non-conformance.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Previous Parts Inspection or Quality Assurance experience is preferred, but can train mechanically inclined candidates with a passion for quality control.
- Skills: Excellent vision, sharp attention to detail, and great communication skills. Comfort reading and working with very small numbers/measurements is required.
- Reliability: A solid work history with a proven track record of longevity at previous employers. Must provide an updated and current resume reflecting all work history.
- Physical Demands: Ability to comfortably lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Screening: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Additional Tasks:
* Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh nonagricultural raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment.
* Discard or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.
* Mark items with details, such as grade or acceptance-rejection status.
* Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
* Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
* Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
* Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.
* Recommend necessary corrective actions, based on inspection results.
* Read dials or meters to verify that equipment is functioning at specified levels.
* Make minor adjustments to equipment, such as turning setscrews to calibrate instruments to required tolerances.
* Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
* Monitor production operations or equipment to ensure conformance to specifications, making necessary process or assembly adjustments.
* Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded.
* Position products, components, or parts for testing.
* Remove defects, such as chips, burrs, or lap corroded or pitted surfaces.
