Millwright and Welder Foreman
Location: Based in Des Moines, IA (Majority of work throughout Central Iowa)
Schedule: Monday – Friday
7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Overtime Available)
Pay Rate: $30.00 and up based on experience
Must Have 1 year as a Foreman millwright supervising a small crew in the field and 5 years Millwright with Agricultural Shut down experience. Opportunity for long term employment not just project based work
Earn PTO first day of work and use on day 60.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Millwright and Welder Foreman to lead a small crew on mechanical installation and maintenance projects throughout Central Iowa. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong mechanical skills and the ability to manage day-to-day job site operations safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and work alongside millwright crew during installations, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical and material handling systems such as grain elevators and agricultural equipment, conveyors, and working on plant shut- downs.
- Ensure daily tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings
- Perform mechanical work using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (STICK Process), and machinery
- Coordinate with project managers and report on progress or job site concerns
- Train and mentor crew members on best practices and safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies at all times
Qualifications:
- 5 years of Millwright experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or foreman role.
- Stick and Mig welding. Rods 6011 and 7018. Must pass weld test and have own equipment and tools.
- Proficient in mechanical installations, welding, rigging, and troubleshooting
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Proven ability to lead a team effectively and maintain job site productivity.
- Must have reliable transportation to job sites throughout Central Iowa Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights or in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to work overtime when needed
- Not afraid of heights or being in a crane
Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 10 or 30 certification Experience with agricultural or grain handling systems CDL or willingness to obtain one is a plus
5 years Millwright Welder 1 year as Foreman running a crew
* Install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings.
* Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
* Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate, and align unit to centerline.
* Replace defective parts of machine, or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
* Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site, performing installation and maintenance work as part of team.
* Weld, repair, and fabricate equipment or machinery.
* Troubleshoot equipment, electrical components, hydraulics, or other mechanical systems.
