Under the general direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the department's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure. The incumbent acts as a multi-faceted engineer ensuring high availability, security, and reliability across hybrid environments by leveraging automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Primary focus areas include cloud security, Identity and Access Management (IAM), site reliability (SRE), and disaster recovery (DR) in compliance with State of California policies.

This position is located at: 2180 Harvard Street, Suite 160, Sacramento, CA 95815.
The Information Technology Specialist I will work in an open-spaced, partitioned office environment, climate-controlled, office building under natural and artificial light in Sacramento, CA. The job involves substantial computer work, including document creation, research, email correspondence, and other related tasks. Currently, DIR has a hybrid telework schedule with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. The work schedule is subject to change based on official state guidance and executive orders. The incumbent will be a participant in meetings in both physical and virtual locations. E.g. conference rooms and offices, and WebEx and Zoom teleconferences. Occasional travel is required for meetings or training classes. As part of DIR's policy to maintain a healthy work environment, all employees should be aware that they may be required to wear masks while working in the office to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.

1. Describe your experience using Terraform or similar tools to automate the provisioning of cloud resources (VPCs, projects, accounts) for application teams. Explain how you use automation to manage resource lifecycles and reduce manual errors.
2. Describe your experience configuring Identity and Access Management (IAM), including RBAC, SSO, and MFA in a Cloud Platform.
3. Explain your experience designing architecture to meet specific RTO/RPO and SLA requirements. Provide examples of how you have implemented logging, monitoring, and application-level failover mechanisms to ensure high availability.

Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
