About Demetree Global

Demetree Global is a family office with a deep real estate heritage focused on the Central Florida market. We oversee a complex structure of operating companies, real estate investments, trusts, family partnerships, and closely held ownership entities. Our environment requires disciplined execution, technical tax leadership, and proactive coordination across accounting, investments, legal advisors, external CPAs, and ownership.

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Manager serves as Demetree Global’s internal tax authority and strategic tax advisor. This senior-level, hands-on role is responsible for tax oversight, planning, technical review, entity ownership support, and transaction advisory across the organization’s real estate portfolio, operating companies, trusts, and family ownership structures.

This is not a compliance-only position. The successful candidate will be expected to review and challenge external CPA work, identify tax-efficient strategies, translate complex tax concepts into practical business recommendations, and advise leadership on the tax implications of ownership structures, liquidity decisions, cash flow planning, and asset transactions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tax Compliance & Complex Filings

  • Manage, prepare, or directly review federal, state, and local tax filings for partnerships, LLCs, corporations, disregarded entities, trusts, and ownership entities.
  • Own accuracy and completeness of complex tax matters, including partnership allocations, capital accounts, special allocations, built-in gains, ownership restructures, and entity changes.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, extensions, and estimated tax payments across all applicable entities.
  • Serve as the final internal reviewer prior to executive or ownership approval.

2. Family Office, Trust & Ownership Structure Advisory

  • Analyze complex ownership structures involving multiple entities, trusts, family partnerships, and varying asset ownership percentages.
  • Support ownership mapping, allocation changes, equity movements, distributions, and liquidity planning across related entities.
  • Provide tax insight related to trust structures, succession considerations, estate planning coordination, and multi-generational family office planning.
  • Identify practical tax and operational implications of entity structures and recommend improvements when appropriate.

3. Strategic Tax Planning & Transaction Support

  • Evaluate tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, restructurings, 1031 exchanges, and real-estate-specific elections.
  • Recommend tax-efficient strategies designed to maximize after-tax returns and preserve long-term family wealth.
  • Analyze depreciation strategies, cost segregation opportunities, capitalization considerations, and timing of asset dispositions from a tax perspective.
  • Prepare forward-looking tax projections, transaction impact analyses, and entity restructuring models to support leadership decision-making.
  • Monitor relevant tax law developments affecting real estate, trusts, closely held entities, and Family Office structures.

4. Bridge Between Legal Counsel, CPAs & Leadership

  • Serve as the internal connector between legal counsel, external CPA firms, accounting, ownership, and business leadership.
  • Ensure ownership and transaction structures are technically sound, practical to administer, compliant, and tax-efficient.
  • Review, challenge, and validate recommendations and work prepared by third-party CPA firms and external advisors.
  • Communicate tax risks, tradeoffs, and opportunities clearly to executive leadership and ownership.

5. Tax, Accounting & Cash Flow Integration

  • Partner with accounting to ensure financial reporting supports accurate tax treatment and reliable cash flow planning.
  • Review and resolve complex book-to-tax differences related to depreciation methods and lives, intercompany transactions, refinancing events, restructures, and entity-level activity.
  • Forecast tax liabilities, estimated payments, and liquidity timing across entities and trusts.
  • Identify accounting, reporting, or process issues that could create tax exposure, compliance risk, or cash flow impact.

6. Systems, Standards & Process Improvement

  • Use Yardi Voyager and related accounting/reporting tools to analyze real estate financial information, ownership activity, and transaction-level data.
  • Establish and enforce high standards for tax documentation, workpapers, ownership records, calendars, and internal review processes.
  • Improve tax workflows, controls, and communication between accounting, leadership, and external advisors.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor as internal tax complexity continues to grow.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 7 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, private industry, Family Office, real estate, or complex privately held ownership environments.
  • Significant experience supporting Family Offices, ultra-high-net-worth families, trusts, or closely held multi-entity ownership structures.
  • Deep technical expertise in partnership taxation, real estate taxation, entity structuring, allocations, depreciation, and tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and ownership changes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently review, challenge, and validate complex tax returns, CPA workpapers, and advisor recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of complex ownership structures involving multiple entities, trusts, family partnerships, and varying ownership percentages.
  • Ability to evaluate tax implications, identify planning opportunities, and make practical recommendations that support investment returns and cash flow objectives.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, sound judgment, and the confidence to take a clear position with leadership and outside advisors.
  • Strong working knowledge of real estate accounting systems. Meaningful Yardi Voyager experience is strongly preferred and may be required depending on overall candidate background.

Preferred

  • CPA, MST, or JD strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience inside a Family Office, real estate investment platform, private equity real estate firm, or closely held investment organization.
  • Experience with trust taxation, estate planning coordination, family partnerships, and multi-generational wealth structures.
  • Experience coordinating with legal counsel, external CPA firms, ownership, and executive leadership on complex transactions or entity planning.
  • Advanced Yardi Voyager exposure in a real estate accounting, reporting, tax, or asset management environment.

Executive Presence & Decision-Making Expectations

  • Formulate recommendations, explain the rationale, and confidently defend tax positions when appropriate.
  • Evaluate multiple options, identify risk and opportunity, and advise leadership on the most practical path forward.
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and provide independent professional judgment rather than simply relaying outside advisor conclusions.
  • Balance technical accuracy with real-world implementation, cash flow impact, and ownership objectives.

What Success Looks Like

  • Demetree Global has a reliable internal tax authority who understands the organization’s entity, trust, and ownership structure.
  • External CPA work is reviewed with rigor, challenged where necessary, and aligned with the company’s long-term strategy.
  • Leadership receives clear, proactive guidance before major transactions, entity changes, distributions, or asset dispositions occur.
  • Tax planning supports after-tax investment returns, liquidity planning, and long-term Family Office objectives.
  • Yardi and accounting data are used effectively to support tax analysis, reporting, and decision-making.

Why This Role

This is a true senior Family Office tax leadership role with executive-level visibility and meaningful impact. The Senior Tax Manager will help protect the organization, guide complex tax decisions, improve internal standards, and ensure that tax strategy supports investment outcomes, cash flow stability, and long-term family office objectives.
