Senior Property Manager – Build & Lead a Growing Retail Portfolio
Our client is entering an exciting new chapter—transitioning from a third-party management structure to an owner-operated property management model. They are seeking a dynamic Senior Property Manager to help lead this transformation and build the department from the ground up.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced retail property management professional to shape strategy, build systems, and leave a lasting impact on a growing portfolio of premier retail properties.
📍 Location: 100% onsite in Plano, TX
👥 Team: Small but highly collaborative team with a strong culture
⚠️ Important: Candidates must have experience managing commercial retail shopping centers with big-box/anchor tenants. Only candidates with this background will be considered.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the transition to an in-house property management platform
- Build and develop the property management department including systems, workflows, procedures, and team structure:
- Oversee a portfolio of 8 large retail properties
- Manage relationships with major anchor tenants and national retailers
- Negotiate and oversee vendor contracts and service agreements
- Provide financial oversight including property financials, P&L, and operating performance
- Mentor and develop team members while creating a strong operational culture
- Travel periodically to support portfolio operations
What We’re Looking For:
- 10 years of shopping center property management experience
- Proven experience with anchored retail properties (grocery anchors or national retailers such as Ross, Marshalls, Dick’s Sporting Goods, etc.)
- Experience building or scaling a property management department
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, inspire, and develop teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret property financial statements
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment
- Willingness to travel by car or air as needed
