Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to support enterprise Parts Applications and Supply Chain systems within a large-scale automotive environment. This role will serve as the Mainframe Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support for mission-critical applications while partnering with project managers, business stakeholders, and development teams.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in COBOL-based mainframe development, enterprise architecture, SDLC methodologies, and production support, along with the ability to deliver scalable solutions supporting high-volume automotive parts and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Serve as the Mainframe Systems SME supporting enterprise Parts Applications and Supply Chain initiatives
β’ Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and development tasks
β’ Lead functional analysis, detailed design, development, testing, implementation, and production support activities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2
β’ Define architectural solutions that support scalability, maintainability, and business requirements
β’ Support projects ranging from large enhancements to enterprise-wide application initiatives
β’ Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation, and post-production warranty support
β’ Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC
β’ Provide regular project status updates, risk identification, and technical recommendations
β’ Troubleshoot production issues and support ongoing application maintenance
β’ Ensure adherence to enterprise development standards, architecture guidelines, and change management processes
β’ Support Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies
β’ Contribute to solution architecture discussions and enterprise technology planning

Required Skills & Experience
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
β’ Strong experience developing enterprise mainframe applications
β’ Advanced expertise with COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2
β’ Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
β’ Experience performing business analysis, functional design, development, testing, implementation, and production support
β’ Experience designing scalable enterprise application architectures
β’ Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
β’ Experience supporting mission-critical production systems
β’ Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
β’ Experience working within Agile and Waterfall environments
β’ Stable work history within large enterprise organizations
Desired Skills
β’ Experience with .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, or Angular
β’ Knowledge of Automotive Parts, Supply Chain, Warehousing, or Logistics systems
β’ Understanding of enterprise architecture, multi-tier applications, and cross-platform environments
