Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to serve as a School Nurse, providing comprehensive health services and support to students within an educational environment. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough health assessments of students upon arrival and as needed throughout the school day.
- Administer medications, injections, and treatments following established protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing first aid and coordinating with emergency services when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including patient care notes, immunization records, and incident reports.
- Educate students and staff on health topics such as infection prevention, hygiene practices, and chronic condition management.
- Collaborate with school staff to develop individualized health plans for students with special medical needs or chronic illnesses.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including HIPAA and state nursing practice standards while managing medical records securely.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current certification to practice in the state.
- Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric healthcare settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric and adolescent care.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Ability to perform patient assessments, vital signs measurement, venipuncture, IV insertion, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospital medicine, urgent care, emergency room settings, or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and healthcare providers.
