Program Context
Home Link Specialists design and facilitate weekly, hour-long enrichment classes over the course of a semester. Classes are developed around a specialist’s skills, strengths, or areas of interest and are delivered once per week for the duration of the semester.
Academic offerings, as determined by certificated staff, may include extended weekly class time along with additional learning activities completed at home under family supervision to meet required instructional time.
Position Summary
A Deer Park Home Link Specialist serves as a community-based educator who supports student engagement and enrichment within the Home Link program. Specialists design and facilitate weekly, hour-long enrichment experiences and supervised learning opportunities for students, working in coordination with certificated staff to support a positive and inclusive environment. This position is for 1-15 hours per week, depending on the needs of the program and the building principal.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design and facilitate weekly, hour-long enrichment activities in a variety of settings, drawing on individual skills, strengths, and areas of interest.
- Develop and deliver a sequence of enrichment experiences over the course of a semester centered on a selected topic or skill area.
- Prepare materials and organize learning environments to support student engagement and participation.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports student engagement.
- Provide appropriate supervision of students and support positive behavior through effective group management strategies.
- Coordinate with oversight consultants and certificated staff as needed to support student participation and program implementation.
- Accurately enter and maintain student attendance records in the student information system (e.g., ALEx).
- Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and program activities.
- Adhere to district policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:
Wage: $27.00 per hour, Specialist. $32.00 per hour for Academic Specialist, 1-15 hour per week.

Benefits:
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.
