What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trades Supervisor position at Daytona State College?
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six (6) years of recent and verifiable commercial/industrial building and maintenance related experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises all assigned staff. This includes completing annual evaluations, performance management and distributing tasks and assignments to ensure efficient operation of the Maintenance team.
- Ensure staff are adhering to departmental and College policies and procedures.
- Responsible for planning, scheduling, and inspecting College buildings/property, including the regional campuses, to ensure maintenance standards are met or exceeded.
- Build relationships and effectively communicate with contractors.
- Utilizes work order system to ensure support of all approved special events and non-routine requests. Responds to requests via work order management application.
- Coordinates work with other departments and subcontractors. Dispatches work orders to appropriate staff.
- Drives college vehicles and operates golf carts and light trucks to retrieve/return supplies, equipment, tools, etc.
- Must be able to work all power equipment related to building maintenance.
- Responsible for auditing, maintaining an inventory log and safeguarding all college property (i.e., equipment, tools, supplies, etc.). Fosters a safe work environment.
- Gathers, verifies, and maintains information to support periodic and special reports documenting activities and events for assigned areas.
- Facilitate weekly meetings with departmental supervisors and team to plan the maintenance priorities for the week and to ensure all issues are completed in a timely manner.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must have a verifiable track record of facilities management leadership experience, with emphasis on training, development, and team building.
- Have strong technical knowledge of grounds management, irrigation, and pest control.
- Be able to work independently and have a strong business acumen to make sound decisions within the colleges policy and procedures.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- The candidate should also have computer knowledge to be able to view other personnel related information (i.e. paycheck, W-2, etc.).
