JOB TITLE:
Accountant - entry level
JOB SUMMARY:
Full-time position. Successful applicant performs a wide range of duties to assist with accounting functions of the College, to include financial reporting, budgeting, processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, and support of payroll functions.
DUTIES:
- Performs a wide range of accounting functions as assigned. These functions may include the following:
- Maintain depreciation schedules and track fixed asset inventory.
- Reconcile and report investment activity, including endowment funds.
- Reconcile various cash accounts and other assigned general ledger accounts with internal and external reports/statements.
- Assist with cash management and proper recording of all cash activity, including federal funds.
- Assist with importing and reconciling all financial aid, as well as general gift and grant activity.
- Assist with required tax filings.
- Prepare and process adjusting journal entries to record transactions and correct improper postings.
- Provide support with special projects and all special reporting, to include audits as required.
- Extensive use of spreadsheets and an integrated accounting software system.
- Provide backup for other positions in the office as needed.
- Other duties necessary for the successful operation of the Business Office.
PREREQUISITES/EDUCATION:
- BA in accounting is preferred.
- Experience in non-profit, higher education or public accounting preferred.
