Investment Banking Associate - Healthcare
Location: New York, NY
Compensation: Base salary starting at $175,000 discretionary bonus
Overview
A leading independent investment banking platform is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join its Healthcare team in New York. This role is ideal for candidates with prior M&A or transaction-oriented experience who are looking to step into a dedicated investment banking role with meaningful responsibility across live deal execution.
The Associate will work closely with senior bankers across a broad range of healthcare transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, equity offerings, and other strategic advisory assignments spanning biopharma, healthcare services, life sciences tools, and medical technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of M&A and capital markets transactions within the healthcare sector
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses (DCF, trading comps, precedent transactions, merger models)
- Prepare high-quality client presentations, marketing materials, and pitch books
- Conduct industry research and company analysis across healthcare subsectors
- Assist in due diligence processes and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in client communications, management meetings, and transaction negotiations
- Provide guidance and oversight to Analysts
Qualifications
- 2–6 years of relevant experience in investment banking or a related transaction-oriented role
- Direct M&A or transaction experience is strongly preferred
- Candidates may come from a variety of adjacent backgrounds, including:
- Investment banking or corporate finance
- Transaction Advisory (Big 4) - FDD, Deal Advisory, Corporate Finance/M&A
- Valuation or financial advisory groups
- Corporate development or strategy with execution exposure
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skillset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is a plus
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience or demonstrated interest in the healthcare sector
- Exposure to live deal processes and client interaction
- Desire to transition into a dedicated investment banking role with increased responsibility and execution ownership
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to operate within lean deal teams
