Fund Controller - Alternative Investments
We are currently seeking candidates for a Fund Controller opportunity with a leading investment management firm located in Boston, MA. The Fund Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting, reporting, and operational processes for a portfolio of alternative investment funds, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong fund accounting experience within private equity, hedge funds, or alternative asset management.
This is a 6 month contract opportunity paying between $70–$85/hour (depending on experience). This role follows a hybrid work model, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accounting and financial reporting for assigned funds, including NAV calculations and investor allocations.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by administrators or internal teams.
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, fund administrators, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with fund governing documents, GAAP, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and analyze fund performance metrics, valuations, and investment activity.
• Support capital activity, including calls, distributions, and investor reporting.
• Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward preferred).
• 6 years of fund accounting experience within alternative investments (private equity, hedge funds, or real estate funds).
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and investment fund structures.
• Proficiency in Excel and fund accounting software (e.g., Investran, Geneva, or similar).
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
