Assistant Controller, Tax | Greater Boston | $220K Base 


A family office and private investment firm is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller with 10 years of accounting experience and a strong tax accounting background. This role will support the Controller across a complex, multi-entity structure, including trusts, partnerships, LLCs, corporations, private investments, and related family office entities.


The base compensation for this role ranges from $200-220k based on qualifications and experience.

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close across a complex multi-entity structure
• Maintain general ledgers and supporting schedules on a tax basis of accounting
• Prepare tax-basis financial statements, management reports, and entity-level reporting
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on tax returns, estimated payments, tax workpapers, and notices
• Support tax compliance, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Assist with accounting for investments, distributions, contributions, loans, and entity restructurings
• Partner with tax, legal, investment, estate planning, and banking advisors
• Help improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting

• 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong tax focus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Strong understanding of tax-basis accounting
• Experience with family office, private investment, partnership, trust, or high-net-worth accounting preferred
• Big 4 or regional public accounting experience a strong plus
• Strong Excel and ERP experience; Sage Intacct preferred
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling confidential information
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
