A Machinery Manufacturing Client in the Milwaukee area is looking to add a Senior Product Manager to their team! This person will act as the technical and commercial expert for their blow molding product line. This role combines product strategy, customer engagement, technical expertise, and sales support to drive growth across beverage, liquid food, and emerging packaging markets. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a specialized packaging equipment product line and developing accurate, commercially competitive quotations for machinery, conversion, retrofit, and related capital equipment projects. This role partners closely with sales, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise throughout the sales and commercialization process.
Responsibilities
- Review requests for quotation (RFQs) from sales teams and customers; analyze customer specifications, drawings, application requirements, and technical needs.
- Support the sales process through customer meetings, sales calls, presentations, technical discussions, and customer qualification activities.
- Provide technical guidance and application support to sales teams, management, and customers, including occasional customer-site visits.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for high-speed packaging equipment and associated manufacturing processes, including equipment capabilities, product/container requirements, production performance, and process optimization.
- Analyze market trends, customer requirements, competitive technologies, and industry developments to help define product roadmaps and future equipment offerings.
- Support initiatives focused on lightweighting, sustainability, recycled materials, energy efficiency, production optimization, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Provide technical guidance for key customer projects, including product feasibility, production analysis, equipment integration, capacity optimization, and lifecycle cost evaluation.
- Develop creative technical solutions to address customer manufacturing and packaging challenges, including conceptual layouts, diagrams, functional descriptions, and engineered solutions.
- Determine the appropriate equipment, components, and technologies for each customer application.
- Collaborate with engineering, finance, sales, and other functional leaders to develop technically and financially accurate project estimates using established pricing structures and cost information.
- Prepare proposals and quotations or coordinate their development with commercial support teams.
- Oversee order confirmation, technical risk reviews, and collection of missing technical information required to finalize quotations.
- Serve as the primary technical and commercial point of accountability for quotations within the assigned product area and ensure applicable quality and sales procedures are followed.
- Support the sale and management of equipment retrofits, upgrades, conversions, and product expansion initiatives for an established installed equipment base.
- Manage received orders and contractual obligations with internal stakeholders through equipment delivery, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
- Maintain pricing, margin, product, and technical information used by sales and management teams.
- Partner with engineering and technical development teams on product-line enhancements, new product definitions, and commercialization initiatives.
- Track customer requirements, quotation activity, sales orders, and market activity to identify trends and provide business insights to management.
- Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify emerging customer needs, technology developments, and opportunities for new or enhanced product offerings.
Qualifications
- 5 years of technical experience in engineering, technical sales, product management, or a related discipline within packaging or industrial machinery.
- 3 years of experience developing quotations or proposals for complex capital equipment.
Salary of $115,000 - $130,000 annually 30% Bonus
