What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Special Education Reading Curriculum Coach 2026-2027 position at Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Valid certification as a special education teacher;
- Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred;
- Three (3) years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred;
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Probationary/Term Contract: 197 days
SALARY:
$67,640/IA-3
Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide direct coaching, staff development sessions, modeling and campus consultation for implementation of the reading/language arts TEKS, including STAAR.
- Consult with campus staff to interpret the STAAR, to analyze reading/writing assessment results, and to plan effective instruction to meet individual IEP’s.
- Assist in the selection and implementation of reading/language arts materials.
- Analyze STAAR results and the implications for instruction.
- Conference with teachers who are in need of information, reassurance and ideas for helping their children with literacy.
- Collaborate with general education and special education staff members to ensure materials and staff development initiatives address needs.
- Guide and coach new and/or struggling teachers while supporting experienced teachers as they work to implement staff development initiatives.
- Observe and provide feedback to teachers regarding instructional practices and strategies in the form of peer coaching.
- Developing modified curriculum and/or lessons as it pertains to reading/language arts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Standards Based IEP goals and objectives to support the reading/language arts TEKS.
- Consult with campus staff to interpret the TEKS, to analyze reading/language arts assessment results, and to plan effective instruction based on the needs identified through the data analysis process.
- Attend and contribute to campus team planning sessions.
- Any other duty as assigned by the special education coordinator, assistant director, director or assistant superintendent of educational support services.
