Senior Hedge Fund Accountant
Overview
Our client is a well-established, institutional hedge fund offering a collaborative, high-performing finance environment with exposure to complex investment strategies. This role will support the fund accounting and financial reporting functions across multiple hedge fund vehicles and work closely with portfolio management, operations, and third-party service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review daily, monthly, and quarterly NAVs for hedge fund entities across complex investment strategies including equities, credit, and derivatives
- Oversee and review work performed by third-party fund administrators, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to fund documentation and accounting policies
- Perform P&L review and analysis, including position-level variance analysis and investigation of pricing or booking discrepancies
- Review portfolio activity including trades, corporate actions, financing, and income accruals
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes, including expense accruals, management and performance fee calculations, and investor allocations
- Support financial statement preparation in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including coordination with external auditors during annual audits
- Partner with internal teams such as operations, risk, compliance, and portfolio management to resolve accounting and valuation matters
- Assist with new fund launches, strategy expansions, and process improvement initiatives
- Review work prepared by junior team members as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience with a Big 4 firm or other public accounting firm, fund administrator, or investment manager
- Strong understanding of hedge fund structures and accounting for financial instruments such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives
- Experience reviewing NAVs and working closely with third-party administrators
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with fund accounting systems is a plus
- CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
