Trust & Estates Paralegal
Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of estate and trust administration, including preparation of probate court filings, accountings, inventories, and Connecticut and Federal estate tax returns
- Gather information for estate and trust income tax returns and coordinate timely asset distributions
- Serve as a professional point of contact for clients-communicating timelines, collecting financial and asset information, and responding promptly to inquiries
- Work closely with financial advisors, banks, accountants, and other external partners to open and close accounts and obtain tax and asset documentation
- Collaborate with attorneys and fellow team members to deliver exceptional client service from start to finish
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate, associate degree, or bachelors degree in a related field is preferred
- 2 years of paralegal experience in trusts and estates, probate administration, or related practice area.
- Demonstrated experience with probate proceedings, trust administration, asset inventories, and beneficiary distributions.
- Familiarity with brokerage account procedures, asset transfers, and working with financial institutions.
- Experience preparing or assisting with fiduciary tax returns and basic estate tax-related documentation; working knowledge of accounting principles for estates preferred.
- Strong legal drafting, proofreading, and document preparation skills attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient with case management software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office- experience with trust accounting software a plus.
