Position Overview

The Traveling Superintendent provides on-site leadership for plumbing construction projects valued at $7.5 million and above. This role leads field teams of 20 employees across multiple job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, clients, inspectors, and trade partners to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all plumbing installation and repair activities, including domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems
• Lead and manage large field teams: Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, Laborers, and Subcontractors
• Conduct daily huddles, weekly planning meetings, and maintain 4-week look-ahead schedules
• Coordinate work with general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and other trades
• Represent the organization professionally on all job sites
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and applicable plumbing codes
• Maintain accurate as-built drawings and daily reports using company technology
• Plan and track materials, equipment, deliveries, and manpower
• Ensure all installations meet contract requirements, healthcare regulations, and local codes
• Serve as the on-site Competent Person
• Enforce OSHA, company, and client safety policies
• Conduct daily JHAs, toolbox talks, safety walks, and PPE inspections
• Complete all safety documentation accurately and on schedule
• Mentor Foremen and crew members to strengthen leadership, craftsmanship, and productivity
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
• Support field workforce development and succession planning initiatives

Qualifications

• 10 years of plumbing experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or foreman role
• Proven success managing multimillion-dollar commercial or industrial projects
• Strong background in healthcare plumbing systems and environments
• Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods
• Excellent leadership, scheduling, and communication skills
• OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Willingness to travel extensively and remain on project sites as needed
• Journeyman license or equivalent experience
• Additional safety certifications such as First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Aerial Platform, Forklift, Rigging, etc. are beneficial.
