The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and managing equipment reliability programs that support safe operations, environmental protection, and overall plant performance. This role focuses on identifying reliability risks, analyzing equipment issues, and implementing long-term solutions that reduce downtime, improve asset life, and enhance maintenance practices. The position works closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to support reliability projects, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Develops and maintains preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including overhaul intervals and lubrication programs.
- Evaluates and standardizes spare parts inventories to support equipment reliability.
- Builds equipment maintenance strategies for breakdown prevention and spare parts readiness.
- Implements maintenance improvements aimed at reducing repair time and optimizing routine PM activities.
- Establishes operator-based PM tasks and works with operators to identify equipment condition changes.
- Tracks plant downtime, identifies recurring equipment issues, and develops plans to reduce outages.
- Performs root cause analysis on equipment failures and recommends design or maintenance changes.
- Participates in safety and environmental programs to support compliance and safe work practices.
- Assists with planning and executing plant outages and turnaround activities.
- Leads detailed failure investigations to determine causes of equipment-related incidents.
- Supports development and maintenance of mechanical engineering and safety standards.
- Completes design work and documentation for small improvement or modification projects.
- Manages reliability improvement projects for plant mechanical systems.
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with reliability methodologies such as TPM, RCM, or Six Sigma.
- Strong problem-solving ability, including critical thinking, systems evaluation, and analytical skills.
- Experience with failure analysis methods such as RCFA or RCM is beneficial.
- Proficiency with common software tools including CMMS platforms and MS Office applications.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime based on operational needs.
