We are seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Manager to lead quality assurance and control efforts across Federal/Govt construction projects. The QC Manager will develop and implement inspection programs, enforce quality standards, and collaborate with project teams to deliver projects that meet contract specifications, codes, and client expectations. This role requires a strong construction background, commercial experience, and proven leadership of QC processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of project quality control plans, checklists, and inspection programs for commercial construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with contract documents, specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformances and deficiencies; coordinate corrective actions and verify timely resolution.
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams to communicate quality requirements and resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation including daily reports, inspection logs, punch lists, material submittals, and as-built records.
- Provide training and mentorship to site staff and subcontractors on quality processes, inspection techniques, and inspection criteria.
- Coordinate third-party inspections, special inspections, and client/architect/engineer reviews as required.
- Analyze quality metrics and trends, prepare reports for senior leadership, and recommend process improvements to reduce defects and rework.
- Support pre-construction activities by reviewing project specifications and identifying quality risks and control measures.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed and that quality activities integrate with site safety and environmental requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of quality control or quality assurance experience in commercial construction; demonstrated experience as a QC Manager.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building systems, codes, and inspection techniques.
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and test reports.
- Experience managing quality programs on projects such as Federal/Govt. and historical restoration/preservation is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry quality standards and processes (e.g., ACI, ASTM, OSHA, local codes) and construction quality management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and present findings to stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Valid drivers license; ability to travel between job sites as needed.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to preventing defects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
