Project Manager - Commercial Construction
Position Overview
We're one of South Florida's highest rated General Contractors, and we're busy! We do a lot of public/federal works projects, and we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in commercial construction and prior work as a Project Manager, delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to client expectations. Experience with public works, ground-up construction, and formal construction management processes is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of commercial construction projects including planning, pre-construction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop, maintain and drive project schedules; coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Create and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and change order negotiation to ensure financial performance.
- Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact; communicate project status, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly and professionally.
- Oversee quality control, safety programs, and compliance with building codes, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage contract administration, subcontractor agreements, submittals, RFIs, and documentation to maintain project records.
- Identify and mitigate project risks; resolve field and design issues promptly to minimize schedule and cost impacts.
- Coordinate commissioning, punch lists, warranties, and final closeout documentation to achieve full project turnover.
- Mentor and lead on-site staff and coordinate with construction management and design teams to ensure alignment with project goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of project management experience in commercial construction; proven track record as a Project Manager on projects upwards of $1.5 million.
- Demonstrated experience with commercial construction processes and contract administration (required).
- Experience with public works, federal, and ground-up construction projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with construction management best practices and tools (Project Management, Construction Management) such as MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent construction industry experience.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost forecasting, and change orders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and certifications (OSHA 30 preferred).
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or equivalent are a plus.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
