Personal Injury Paralegal
Position Overview
Premier Personal Injury Firm is seeking a detail-oriented Personal Injury Paralegal to support plaintiff-side attorneys in a busy litigation practice. The ideal candidate will manage case files from intake through resolution, handle discovery and document production, prepare pleadings and correspondence, coordinate medical records and billing, and assist with trial preparation. This role requires strong litigation and discovery experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
On-site and hybrid available.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 35-65 personal injury files and maintain organized, up-to-date file documentation and case calendars.
- Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, settlement documents, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
- Handle all aspects of discovery including drafting requests for production and interrogatories, managing responses, organizing and indexing documents, and coordinating electronic discovery (ESI) and document review platforms.
- Collect, review and summarize medical records, bills, invoices, and other evidence; prepare chronologies, medical summaries, and damages calculations.
- Coordinate depositions, hearings and trial logistics, prepare exhibits, witness lists, trial notebooks and demonstrative aids; attend depositions and court as needed to provide support.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, medical providers, billing departments, experts and opposing counsel; ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items.
- Manage timelines and deadlines, monitor statute of limitations and court filing requirements, and ensure compliance with local rules and procedures.
- Work closely with attorneys to support case strategy, including preparing witness statements, trial outlines and exhibits packages, and assisting with settlement negotiations or mediation preparations.
- Utilize case management and litigation support software to maintain records, track deadlines, and generate reports.
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate or bachelors degree in paralegal studies or related.
- Minimum 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, with strong preference for prior personal injury plaintiff-side experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing discovery in civil litigation, including drafting discovery, organizing document production, and working with ESI/document review platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional client-facing experience.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize workload independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), PDF management tools, and familiarity with case management/litigation software.
- Ability to attend court, depositions, mediations and occasional travel as required; valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a strong plus and will be given preference.
- Demonstrated commitment to working on the plaintiff side of personal injury matters is highly desirable.
