P6 Scheduler - Mechanical Construction
Position Overview
The P6 Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules using Oracle Primavera P6 for mechanical construction projects. This role supports project teams by ensuring accurate planning, progress tracking, and reporting to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling and Planning
- Develop detailed baseline schedules in Primavera P6 for mechanical construction projects including HVAC, piping, and plumbing
- Build and maintain work breakdown structures and activity sequencing based on project scope
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to establish logic, durations, and resource loading
- Incorporate procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities into project schedules
Schedule Maintenance and Analysis
- Update schedules regularly based on field progress and project changes
- Analyze critical path, float trends, and schedule variances
- Identify risks and opportunities that may affect project timelines
- Perform scenario analysis and develop recovery or acceleration plans
Reporting and Communication
- Generate weekly and monthly schedule reports
- Present schedule status and forecasts to internal teams and clients
- Provide input for cost forecasting and earned value analysis
- Support project meetings with clear schedule insights
Project Controls Support
- Assist in change management by evaluating schedule impacts
- Maintain schedule documentation and audit trails
- Ensure compliance with contract scheduling requirements
- Coordinate with cost control and project controls teams
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent experience may be considered
Experience
- 3 years of scheduling experience in construction or mechanical contracting
- Proven experience using Primavera P6
- Experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and plumbing
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing
- Familiarity with CPM scheduling
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical and communication skills
