Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Litigation/Trial Attorney to manage complex civil litigation matters from intake through trial and appeal. The successful candidate will lead case strategy, conduct depositions, handle motion practice, prepare witnesses and trial exhibits, and advocate effectively in court. This role requires strong litigation experience, excellent legal research and writing skills, and the ability to manage discovery and eDiscovery workflows while leveraging trial technology and case-management tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in civil litigation proceedings and at trial, including federal and state courts.
- Conduct and defend depositions, interviews, and witness examinations.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents; manage motions practice.
- Develop case strategy and litigation plans in coordination with clients and internal teams.
- Manage discovery activities, including eDiscovery, document review, and production processes.
- Prepare witnesses and coordinate expert witness engagement and testimony.
- Lead jury selection/vore dire strategy and prepare trial exhibits and demonstratives.
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal memoranda and briefs.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and arbitration when appropriate.
- Handle court filings, comply with local rules and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and manage deadlines.
- Utilize trial technology (e.g., TrialDirector, TrialPad) and case-management systems; maintain familiarity with Pacer and document platforms.
- Supervise junior attorneys, paralegals, and document review teams; coordinate with vendors for eDiscovery and evidence management.
- Advise clients on legal risk, regulatory issues, and litigation strategy; preserve and authenticate evidence.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, including courtroom exposure and responsibility for depositions (required).
- Proven trial experience or substantial involvement in trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
- Demonstrated skill in legal research, brief writing, motion practice, and drafting pleadings.
- Experience managing discovery, eDiscovery and document review workflows; familiarity with Relativity, Concordance, and document-review platforms preferred.
- Proficiency with legal research services such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Working knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), Rules of Evidence, and court filing procedures; experience with Pacer a plus.
- Comfort with trial technology (TrialDirector, TrialPad) and preparing trial exhibits and demonstratives.
- Experience with jury selection, witness preparation, and expert witness management.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in settlement negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
- Familiarity with appellate practice, criminal litigation, civil litigation, and regulatory or compliance matters is a plus.
- Excellent oral advocacy, client counseling, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and supervise/support junior staff and document-review teams.
