Position Overview
The IT Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organizations infrastructure systems to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing IT services. This role leads a team of engineers and administrators, manages cloud and on-premises environments (including Azure and SQL Server), oversees network and security components (Cisco, firewalls, VPNs), and supports EDI integrations. The IT Systems Manager partners with stakeholders to align technology investments with business goals, drives continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with security and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of systems, network, and database administrators; provide direction, performance management, and professional development.
- Design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure systems including servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Manage cloud infrastructure and services (Azure) including resource provisioning, cost optimization, security controls, and hybrid connectivity.
- Administer and optimize SQL Server environments: installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup and restore, and patch management.
- Oversee network architecture and operations, including Cisco devices, routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure secure and resilient connectivity.
- Manage and support EDI systems and integrations (e.g., AS2, X12 or equivalent), coordinating with application teams and trading partners to ensure reliable data exchange.
- Implement and enforce security best practices and policies, including vulnerability management, change control, logging/monitoring, and incident response.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, capacity plans, and architecture diagrams.
- Plan and execute infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations on schedule and within budget; coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Establish and manage vendor relationships and service contracts; evaluate and procure infrastructure hardware and services.
- Monitor system health and performance using appropriate tools; proactively identify and remediate issues to meet SLAs and business requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience managing IT infrastructure and teams, with demonstrated responsibility for production systems and projects.
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Strong experience administering SQL Server (installation, maintenance, backup/restore, performance tuning).
- Proven network and security experience with Cisco equipment, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Familiarity with EDI systems, protocols, and troubleshooting of integrations.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and storage solutions.
- Solid understanding of backup, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and monitoring tools.
- Relevant certifications preferred: CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft Azure Administrator or Architect, MCSA/MCSE (SQL Server), ITIL or equivalent.
- Excellent leadership, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency with automation/scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar) and infrastructure-as-code concepts is a plus.
