Insurance Defense Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in insurance defense litigation, providing expert legal counsel to clients in various sectors including construction and commercial trucking. The primary objective of this role is to defend our clients' interests through effective legal strategies and superior advocacy skills in court and during negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in insurance defense litigation cases
- Conduct thorough legal research and prepare legal memoranda
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
- Prepare for and attend court appearances and trial proceedings
- Manage case files and document review processes
- Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants as needed
- Develop trial strategies and prepare for trial
- Conduct depositions and prepare clients for oral arguments
- Provide general liability and commercial automobile defense
- Engage in site inspections and gather evidence for cases
- Utilize cloud-based document management and technology to maintain a paperless office environment
- Mentor junior attorneys and support legal team management
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the state of Louisiana
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
- Strong knowledge of personal injury, construction defect, and commercial trucking laws
- Proven trial experience and familiarity with court procedures
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Initiative to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
- Experience with technology in a legal context, including cloud-based solutions
- Demonstrated capability in negotiating settlements and engaging in motions and discovery
