Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer - FPGA & Mixed-Signal PCB
Location: Suffolk County, NY on site
Salary: $90k-$140k/yr DOE
Requirements: BSEE or MSEE, 3 years exp in Board level PCB design, mixed signal hardware design, exp debugging FPGA based hardware systems
Position Overview
We are seeking a Hardware Design Engineer with hands-on ownership of FPGA-based mixed-signal PCB designs. This role focuses on schematic design, PCB development, and hardware bring-up for complex electronic systems. Candidates must have real-world PCB ownership and debug experience. FPGA-only, firmware-only, software-only, or test-focused backgrounds are not a fit. This is a fully on-site role supporting high-reliability hardware products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop board level mixed-signal schematics and PCB layouts that meet electrical, mechanical and manufacturability requirements.
- Design and develop board-level schematics and PCB layouts for complex electronic systems
- Implement FPGA designs using Verilog and/or VHDL
- Perform hardware bring-up, validation, and debug of new designs
- Conduct simulations and timing analysis to validate digital designs
- Integrate analog and mixed-signal circuitry into FPGA-based systems
- Debug and troubleshoot hardware issues in prototype and production environments
- Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and logic analyzers for debugging
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, and test engineers
- Create design documentation, test procedures, and engineering reports
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
- 3 years of experience in board-level PCB design, including schematic capture and layout
- Experience designing and debugging FPGA-based hardware systemsExperience with mixed-signal hardware design (analog and digital)
- Demonstrated experience with hardware bring-up and debugging
- Proficiency with Verilog and/or VHDL
- Familiarity with digital design, synthesis, and simulation tools
- Comfortable using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
