Position Overview
The Commercial Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing project costs and preparing detailed estimates for commercial construction projects. This role involves collaboration with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure that all aspects of the project are considered and that estimates are precise and competitive.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to understand the scope of work
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, and overhead
- Collaborate with project managers to gather information for estimating
- Analyze subcontractor bids and vendor proposals to ensure competitive pricing
- Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to clients and stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of estimates and project costs for future reference
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on cost-effective solutions and strategies
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
