Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer to define and execute a technology strategy that supports business growth, product excellence, and manufacturing scale. The CTO will lead engineering and R&D, integrate software and hardware development with manufacturing operations, drive digital transformation (Industry 4.0/IIoT), and ensure secure, reliable systems. This role partners with the executive team to align technology investments with commercial objectives and to build high-performing technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and execute the overall technology vision and roadmap in support of company strategy and growth objectives.
- Lead and grow engineering, product development, and R&D teams; recruit, mentor, and retain senior technical talent.
- Oversee integration of software, hardware, and manufacturing systems (including MES, PLCs, and IIoT) to improve production efficiency, quality, and time-to-market.
- Drive digital transformation initiatives, automation, and continuous improvement across manufacturing and operations.
- Define architecture standards, technology stack, and engineering best practices to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Own technology budgeting, forecasting, and vendor/partner management to optimize cost and deliverables.
- Ensure information security, data integrity, and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the executive team and board to inform strategic decisions, communicate technical plans, and report on technology KPIs.
- Manage product lifecycle from concept through production, coordinating cross-functional efforts between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality.
- Foster an innovation culture and prioritize R&D projects that generate business value and competitive advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree (MS/MBA/PhD) preferred.
- 10 years of progressive technology leadership, with prior experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent senior technical executive.
- Proven track record in manufacturing environments or industrial technology, including hands-on experience with manufacturing systems and automation.
- Strong engineering background with deep technical knowledge of software and hardware integration, cloud platforms, data architecture, and IIoT.
- Experience scaling engineering teams and building processes for rapid, high-quality product delivery.
- Demonstrated success leading digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives that delivered measurable operational improvements.
- Financial acumen and experience managing technology budgets, vendor contracts, and capital projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to translate technical concepts for business leaders and the board.
- Track record of establishing security and compliance programs, and managing risk related to technology and operations.
- Experience with metrics-driven management and establishing KPIs to measure technology performance and business impact.
