We are a leading regional accounting and consulting firm in Latham, New York. We are is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our growing Government Services team. About the Role
As an Audit Senior, you will take a lead role in planning and executing audit engagements for a wide range of government and municipal clients, including towns, villages, fire districts, school districts, and other public entities. You'll work directly with clients, oversee staff, and ensure high-quality engagement delivery.
Key Responsibilities
-Lead and manage audit engagements for government and municipal clients
-Perform risk assessments, develop audit plans, and ensure compliance with GASB, GAAS, and other applicable standards
-Supervise, train, and mentor audit staff throughout fieldwork
-Review workpapers, identify issues, and provide clear guidance and solutions
-Maintain strong client relationships through communication and responsive service
-Assist with the preparation of financial statements and audit reports
-Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the Government Services team
Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
-CPA license or progress toward CPA strongly preferred
-4 years of public accounting experience, with a strong background in governmental and municipal audits
-Familiarity with auditing towns, villages, fire districts, and other public entities
-Strong knowledge of GASB and governmental reporting requirements
-Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
-Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines
