About the Role

A well-established civil defense practice is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. The firm handles a wide range of matters, including general liability, workers compensation, employment issues, medical malpractice, transportation cases, insurance coverage disputes, and other complex civil litigation.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation skills and the ability to manage cases independently. While prior insurance defense experience is preferred, the firm welcomes applicants with solid civil litigation backgrounds who are interested in defense-oriented work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse civil litigation caseload from investigation through resolution or trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal research memoranda.
• Conduct and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Represent clients in hearings, oral arguments, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Work with clients and colleagues to develop effective case strategies.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and claims professionals.
• Provide efficient, high-quality legal representation.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active law license or eligibility for admission in Pennsylvania. 
• 1 to 6 years of civil litigation experience. Insurance defense experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Deposition or courtroom experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
