Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Application Engineer to support the deployment of advanced manufacturing systems for customers in the Huntsville, Alabama area. This role is remote-based with approximately 50 percent travel to local customer sites. The ideal candidate has strong experience with additive manufacturing and CNC programming and enjoys working directly with customers to implement and optimize manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the installation, commissioning, and optimization of additive manufacturing and CNC machining systems
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs, toolpaths, and machining processes
- Support additive manufacturing processes including machine setup, calibration, validation, and part qualification
- Serve as a technical resource during customer engagements, including on-site support, troubleshooting, and training
- Work closely with customers to understand application requirements and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure successful system performance
- Document processes, best practices, and customer-specific applications
- Travel to customer sites in the Huntsville area approximately 50 percent of the time
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with additive manufacturing technologies such as metal or polymer 3D printing
- Strong CNC programming experience, including mills and or lathes
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD and T
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with customers
- Willingness and ability to travel locally up to 50 percent
