Long-Term Substitute Permanent Building Substitute Needed
Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a flexible and reliable individual to serve as a Long-Term Building Substitute for the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will help create a welcoming, friendly, and growth-minded environment that ensures the best educational opportunities for all students.
In this role, you will be utilized to fill daily teacher absences, ensuring continuity and support across various classrooms and educational settings. Building substitutes are guaranteed work each student day, spanning from the start to the end of the school day.
Primary Responsibilities
- Filling daily teacher absences to maintain a seamless instructional environment.
- Delivering lesson plans and managing classroom environments effectively in the absence of the regular educator.
- Collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and staff to support student needs throughout the school day.
- Monitoring student transitions and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Responding flexibly to daily assignment changes based on the building's scheduling needs.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- Prior experience as a classroom teacher or substitute teacher (required).
- A current Vermont teacher’s license (preferred).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish professional rapport with students and school staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the high degree of flexibility needed to adapt to different subjects and grade levels daily.
- Demonstrated poise, patience, and a genuine passion for working with high school students to help them succeed.
- A commitment to the CVSD mission and the development of a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and positive learning environment for all families.
