Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a System Engineer 3. The work will be done onsite full-time in Clayton, NC. This is a long-term position (12 months) that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $54/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a System Engineer to support the integration and validation of advanced remote control systems used in machine applications. This role focuses on system-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting across embedded electronic control systems, vision systems, and networked components. The engineer will work hands-on with machines, performing validation activities, analyzing system performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge technology in remote control and autonomous systems within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and execute system-level validation and verification for machines and integrated systems
• Perform system integration and regression testing across hardware, software, controls, and networks
• Configure machines for validation, including software flashing and test setup
• Instrument systems and collect data using sensors, loggers, and diagnostic tools
• Validate communication interfaces using tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CAPL, and Wireshark
• Analyze logs and network data to troubleshoot multi-domain system issues
• Develop and maintain test plans, procedures, and validation documentation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects and validate fixes
• Apply systems engineering practices to ensure requirements coverage and system performance
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 4 years of experience in system integration, validation, or testing (internships considered)
• Experience working with machine, vehicle, or system validation across multiple applications
• Hands-on experience with system setup, configuration, and instrumentation for testing
• Strong understanding of networking concepts (CAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, communication protocols)
• Experience with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, vTESTstudio; CAPL preferred) and Wireshark
• Experience validating embedded or distributed control systems
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with off-highway, automotive, autonomous, or industrial machines
• Experience supporting machine maintenance or test equipment in validation environments
• Familiarity with requirements and test management tools (Jama, DOORS, Azure DevOps)
• Experience with HIL, SIL, or automated test frameworks
• Familiarity with diagnostics, logging, and data analysis tools
• Experience supporting field or customer-reported issues
