Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 2 (Supplier Quality Engineer). The work will be done onsite in Lafayette, IN. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $40/hour full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality/Test Engineer to support supplier quality and manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role will work closely with production, engineering, logistics, supplier development, and quality teams to investigate supplier and operational quality issues, coordinate corrective actions, and minimize production downtime. The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing quality, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams while supporting continuous improvement and new product introduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate supplier and manufacturing quality issues and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate the disposition of nonconforming materials through process change notifications and deviation requests.
- Support root cause analysis and provide data-driven recommendations to resolve quality concerns.
- Coordinate containment activities, including sorting and rework, to minimize production disruptions.
- Partner with engineering, production, logistics, supplier development, and external suppliers to support continuous improvement and new product introduction (NPI) projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; an engineering, technology, or science degree is preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier quality, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or quality technician roles (internships are acceptable).
- Experience with data collection and analysis, problem solving, and root cause investigations.
- Ability to read engineering blueprints and use precision gages and measurement tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
- Experience supporting supplier quality, production quality, process improvements, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
