Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Lafayette, IN. This is a 12-month long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support continuous product improvement (CPI) and LEPI initiatives for large industrial engine platforms. This role will focus on project coordination, issue resolution, engineering process support, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure projects are executed effectively and aligned with business commitments. The engineer will work closely with engineering, product management, supply chain, and customer support teams to manage project timelines, support product improvements, and drive operational efficiency. This position offers strong visibility across engineering leadership and an opportunity to contribute to customer-focused product improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate and support CPI and LEPI projects across engineering teams to ensure timely execution and closure
• Maintain and update project tracking tools, status reports, timelines, and supporting documentation
• Facilitate communication and alignment across engineering, product management, supply chain, and customer support teams
• Support project planning, risk identification, issue escalation, and continuous improvement activities
• Prepare presentations, summaries, and updates for leadership reviews and stakeholder meetings
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering field
• 2–4 years of engineering or project coordination experience
• Basic understanding of gas and/or diesel engine operation
• Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting continuous product improvement or engineering project coordination initiatives
• Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with Creo, Teamcenter, or similar engineering systems
• Understanding of engine product configurations and industrial equipment systems
• Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments
• Familiarity with industry standards such as CSA, EU, or API
