Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Cooling Systems Test Engineer. The work will be done onsite full-time in Peoria, IL. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is $42/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to support the validation and performance evaluation of cooling and thermal systems in a mechanical engineering environment. This role focuses on test setup, instrumentation, execution, and analysis of cooling system performance, working closely with design and validation teams. The engineer will play a key role in ensuring accurate data collection, troubleshooting test issues, and communicating results to support product development. This position offers a blend of lab, field, and collaborative engineering work in a team-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and execute cooling system tests, including instrumentation and data collection
• Apply and configure instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, and flow meters
• Collaborate with machine engineers and validation teams to coordinate test schedules and machine availability
• Troubleshoot test setups, instrumentation, and system performance issues
• Analyze test data and communicate results and recommendations to design teams
• Support development of test plans and participate in design review meetings
• Assist senior engineers with test execution and progressively take ownership of projects
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (with Thermodynamics/Fluid Dynamics coursework)
• 5–7 years of relevant engineering or test experience (internships considered)
• Strong understanding of thermodynamic and cooling systems
• Hands-on experience with test instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow measurement, etc.)
• Ability to perform physical work (climbing equipment, working with tools, supporting test setups)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in cooling system validation or thermal testing
• Familiarity with test data analysis and reporting tools
• Experience working in lab, test bay, or outdoor testing environments
• Background supporting product validation or development programs
