Mobile Hydraulic Systems Field Technician

CTOS - Trucks & Equipment
Sacramento, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/15/2026

Make an impact in the field

When your day starts, your CTOS service truck is already in your driveway—stocked, outfitted, and ready. You head to a customer site to evaluate a bucket truck with a finicky boom. You connect diagnostic software, study schematics, trace hydraulics, and bring the machine back to life. Later, you’ll swap out worn components on a digger derrick, verify dielectric integrity, and close the day with precise documentation—all while collaborating with a support team that has your back.

You’ll work across respected brands—Load King, TEREX, Manitowoc, Elliott, and National Cranes—servicing boom trucks, cranes, bucket and dump trucks, digger derricks, utility trucks, and more.

What you’ll handle

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic fluid power systems and pneumatic tools.
  • Interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics/blueprints; perform welding as needed.
  • Use Quick Serve, DTNA, and other diagnostic platforms to isolate issues.
  • Conduct DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing to ensure compliance.
  • Assess, diagnose, and replace worn or damaged parts across multiple utility equipment manufacturers.
  • Operate and inspect equipment to identify defects; perform initial inspections and parts requisitions.
  • Fit bearings; overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assemblies.
  • Use gauges, flow meters, and calibration devices to validate system performance.
  • Rebuild gearboxes, outriggers, and boom lift cylinders.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment with appropriate tooling.
  • Test and validate performance post-repair; complete routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards; keep accurate records of parts, service, and labor.
  • Submit work/repair orders for approval; collaborate professionally with team members.
  • Follow best practices for a safe work environment and attend monthly safety meetings.

What you’ll bring

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in both shop and field settings.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred).
  • Your own set of mechanic’s tools.
  • Comfort using software for documentation and hitting deadlines/schedules.

Core strengths

  • Expert troubleshooting and sound judgment.
  • Hands-on proficiency with heavy equipment repair and operation.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving under pressure.
  • Consistency in performing routine maintenance.

Mindset and physical readiness

  • Professional, positive demeanor with punctual attendance.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varied conditions, including at heights.
  • Capability to lift, carry, push, and pull; comfortable with manual labor.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; strong reasoning skills.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a wide range of tools and equipment.

What we supply

  • A company utility truck equipped with a 4–6-ton crane, welder, air compressor, and specialty tools—take it home daily.
  • Access to a deep bench of expertise and support at Custom Truck One Source (CTOS).

What’s in it for you

  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Health coverage: medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug.
  • Paid time off: vacation, sick, and holidays.
  • Short- and long-term disability.
  • Tool discounts (Milwaukee and MAC Tools).
  • Investment in employee development and an employee referral program.
