- Perform in-process and final inspections of structural steel fabrication to ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and applicable codes and standards.
- Verify weld fit-up before welding, including joint preparation, alignment, root opening, bevel angle, and dimensional tolerances.
- Conduct visual inspections of welded assemblies and identify non-conformances.
- Inspect fabricated components for dimensional accuracy using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Review fabrication drawings, welding symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and quality requirements before inspection.
- Maintain accurate daily inspection records for all inspected parts, including inspection status, quantities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Verify that materials are properly identified and traceable throughout the fabrication process.
- Verify that corrective actions are implemented and completed before product release.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and client inspections, as required.
- Perform other quality control duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, quality control, and welding inspection.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
- Knowledge of weld fit-up inspection and visual weld inspection.
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and AISC standards.
- Ability to use measuring and inspection tools.
- Basic computer skills for maintaining inspection records and reports.
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate safe work practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
