Position Summary
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences for children ages 4–5 years old. This position requires a strong understanding of early childhood education, classroom management, and child development, along with a genuine passion for helping children learn and grow.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, organized, patient, and committed to creating a classroom environment where children feel loved, challenged, and supported.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging lessons and activities that support kindergarten readiness and whole-child development.
- Foster growth in language and literacy, math, science, social studies, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social-emotional learning, and creative expression.
- Create and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages learning and exploration.
- Guide children's behavior using positive discipline and age-appropriate classroom management techniques.
- Assess and observe children's developmental progress and communicate milestones with families.
- Prepare children for kindergarten by encouraging independence, problem-solving, critical thinking, and social skills.
- Incorporate music, movement, sensory experiences, dramatic play, and hands-on learning opportunities into daily activities.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, assessments, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and health and safety standards.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding their child's development and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with coworkers and administration to support the success of the program.
- Incorporate Christian values, Bible stories, prayer, and faith-based principles into daily classroom experiences.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- CDA, Early Childhood Education coursework, or previous preschool teaching experience preferred.
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass all required background checks.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
