You'll be working with high school students who are building authentic companies with $1M revenue potential. These are not academic exercises or mock scenarios. Approximately 60-65% of your time will be spent in individual coaching sessions: pinpointing where each founder encounters obstacles, determining the most impactful next step, and maintaining accountability to a defined action plan. The remaining 35-40% is divided between academic supervision and facilitating workshops that equip students with practical capabilities, not merely theoretical knowledge.

This role is not traditional teaching. You are accountable for student results across three dimensions simultaneously: venture advancement, academic performance, and personal development. You'll leverage dashboards, business progress reports, and academic metrics to coach with data-driven precision rather than relying on instinct alone. When a student's grades begin to decline, you address it proactively before it escalates. When a venture loses momentum, you identify the underlying issue, not the surface-level one.

You'll begin by understanding each student's business, their natural abilities, and their recurring friction points. Within a few months, you become the voice whose challenge they respect, because you've operated in the real world yourself. The payoff is witnessing a 16-year-old arrive with a concept and depart with a working enterprise, the self-discipline to sustain it, and academic standing that preserves every future opportunity.

What You Will Be Doing

• Providing 1:1 coaching to student founders on strategy, execution, and scaling decisions — approximately two-thirds of your workweek
• Leveraging student dashboards, venture updates, and academic metrics to assess progress and establish actionable priorities
• Tracking academic standing and stepping in early when concentration or time management begins to falter
• Designing and delivering workshops that produce concrete, applicable learning outcomes
• Facilitating stand-ups, debriefs, and group sessions that reinforce student accountability to their commitments

• Teaching lectures or adhering to a fixed curriculum (you enable applied learning, not traditional classroom teaching)
• Offering broad mentorship or inspirational guidance without concrete action plans and follow-up
• Handling administrative tasks — scheduling, documentation, or enrollment processes
• Attending faculty meetings or working through institutional bureaucracy (your focus remains on direct student impact)
  
  

Venture Coach Key Responsibilities

Basic Requirements

• Able to work on-site at Alpha High School in Austin, TX (relocation assistance provided)
• Minimum of 2 years coaching or developing others (direct reports, colleagues, or clients) with a concrete example of a coaching engagement and its measurable outcomes
• Professional background owning critical outcomes or performance metrics, including at least one example showing $500,000 in annual revenue impact
• At least 1 year of experience working with young people (students, junior professionals, or youth program participants) on projects, development goals, or entrepreneurial initiatives
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
  
  

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Founded, co-founded, or managed operations for a startup or early-stage venture
• Experience in roles such as Chief of Staff, program director, or high-impact individual contributor with end-to-end ownership of outcomes
• Proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to enhance coaching preparation, data analysis, or communications

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $75 USD/hour, which equates to $150,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
