What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leadership Development Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site at Alpha School locations: New York City, NY
- Orange County (Lake Forest), CA
- San Francisco, CA
- Santa Barbara, CA
- $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Health benefits begin on day one.
- Relocation assistance provided
Alpha leverages AI-driven 1:1 instruction, allowing students to complete core academics in roughly two hours daily. This structure opens the remainder of the day for life skills, self-directed projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record demonstrates what's possible: someone capable of reading dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.
Your role isn't to instruct content; it's to coach, challenge, and maintain the same exacting standards you've applied to yourself. Approximately 80% of your day involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching, plus life-skills facilitation. The remaining 20% centers on tone-setting: sharp morning launches that cultivate a culture where average isn't acceptable.
The trajectory here doesn't lead toward management. It's about mastery. You begin by internalizing Alpha's framework and earning student trust. Within months, you become the figure they rely on to push past perceived limits. The payoff isn't a title. It's witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September command a room of adults by May.
If you're seeking a way to leverage your elite credentials toward impact beyond your own career, apply now. If you require scripted lessons, conventional classroom structure, or advancement into administration, this isn't the fit.
What You Will Be Doing
- Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies individual obstacles, establishes ambitious targets, and ensures student accountability for execution
- Facilitating structured life-skills sessions designed for mastery rather than engagement, drawing on credible narratives from your own elite background
- Evaluating student mastery using platforms such as Test2Pass and monitoring progress through Coachbot analytics to refine coaching approaches dynamically
- Establishing cultural expectations each morning via focused kickoffs that reinforce high-performance norms campus-wide
- Cultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high standards, consistency, and documented motivation frameworks
- Creating lesson plans, developing curriculum, or evaluating assignments. Alpha's academic infrastructure manages that independently.
- Presenting to large groups of 30 students. Your focus is intensive coaching in intimate settings, not classroom-style delivery.
- Supervising other personnel or pursuing administrative advancement. This position centers on direct student influence, not organizational management.
- Attending staff meetings or dealing with institutional red tape. Your schedule prioritizes student interaction.
- Compromising standards to meet benchmarks. If a student achieves 99%, your task is uncovering what prevented 100%.
Lead outstanding student motivation, development, and life-skill acquisition at Alpha's most demanding campuses.
