Student Success Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

Crossover
Beverly Hills, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/11/2026
An AI is capable of teaching a six-year-old to read. What it cannot do is make that child care. Closing that gap is your role.

At Alpha, students in grades K–2 complete two hours of daily academic learning through AI-powered applications. There are no lectures. There are no worksheets. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops focused on public speaking, concentration, and the skills of giving and receiving feedback. While a playbook is provided, the most effective coaches in this position tailor it to their specific cohort and design additional activities when gaps appear. The remaining half of your day is spent meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing Coachbot data, and coaching each child toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives. Warmth creates the trust that allows you to push. Pushing communicates your belief in their capacity to succeed.

A successful quarter means every student completes their weekly app objectives, passes the Test2Pass assessment for every life-skills workshop, and at least 90% report that they love you. Fall short on any of those three measures and you have not met the role's expectations. During your first year, you will master the playbook; once you demonstrate that you can maintain high standards, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible—a role in which you mentor newer hires while continuing to run your own cohort.

If traditional teaching appeals to you, if you prefer a curriculum that is fully prescribed, or if you view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this role is not a fit. If your background includes early-elementary teaching with a focus on circle time, camp counseling for young children, youth sports coaching, or children's theater performance, the final stage before receiving an offer is a shadow day coaching actual Alpha students. Submit your application today.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K–2 cohorts on public speaking, focus, feedback, and other foundational competencies, tailoring the playbook to your group rather than delivering it verbatim.
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions that ensure every student remains on track to meet weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and the rapport you have established with each child.
  • Administering Test2Pass, Alpha's mastery-based assessment, for each life skill and coaching students who do not achieve mastery until they do.
  • Meeting kindergarteners at their developmental level with songs, storytelling, movement, and playfulness, while maintaining real, measurable expectations for first and second graders.
  • Serving as the warm, welcoming adult children are excited to see at drop-off AND the adult who will not allow them to settle for less than their best.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lectures from the front of the room. Academic content is embedded in the apps, not delivered by you.
  • Creating curriculum from the ground up. Alpha supplies the playbook; your role is to animate it.
  • Passively monitoring children as they work on computers. Motivation in this role is active, individualized, and sustained.
  • Reducing a weekly goal to make it easier for a child to achieve. When a student falls behind, the solution is to support the student, not adjust the target.
  • Grading assignments, administering standardized test preparation, or managing communication with parents. Campus Leads handle parent-facing responsibilities, and the other tasks do not exist in this model.

Student Success Coach Key Responsibilities

Ensure that every student in your K–2 cohort completes their weekly learning objectives, achieves mastery of each life skill, and finishes the year reporting that they loved you.

Basic Requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, Miami, or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; or Boston, MA (relocation support provided).
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject.
  • At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4 to 7 (early-elementary teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership).
  • A specific example you can describe of motivating a young child to a hard goal: the goal, what you did, and the outcome.
  • Willingness to let AI handle the instructional content while you focus on motivation and life-skills coaching.
  • Willingness to hold high standards with students even when they push back.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Experience in youth athletics coaching, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori/progressive early education, or after-school programs where you were directly responsible for motivating young kids toward specific goals.
  • Personal history of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), such that holding others to a hard bar is a pattern, not a posture.
  • Natural performer's presence with little kids: the ability to hold a room of kindergarteners through voice, silliness, and movement.
  • Track record of turning shy or resistant little kids into confident, active participants.
